Congressman Josh Harder and Local Leaders to Speak at July 27 Ceremony
(July 22 -- Stockton, CA) – The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission (SJRRC) is proud to announce the graduation of its Spring 2025 Cohort of The Rail Academy of Central California (TRACC), marking another significant milestone in the advancement of rail workforce development in the Central Valley. The graduation ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the ACE Rail Maintenance Facility located at 1020 E. Alpine Ave Stockton, CA 95204.
This celebratory event will recognize the achievements of 17 students enrolled in the most recent cohort, who have completed the intensive curriculum and rigorous training program preparing them for high-demand careers in rail operations, maintenance, and related transportation fields.
Since launching its first cohort in January 2024, 23 students have graduated from TRACC, and six graduates are already employed in the rail industry. TRACC’s career-focused model continues to connect students with hands-on instruction, mentorship, and direct job placement opportunities in transportation and operations fields.
Featured speakers at the July 27th ceremony will include Congressman Josh Harder, SJRRC Chair and Lodi City Councilwoman Lisa Craig-Hensley, San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) Chair and Kings County Supervisor Doug Verboon, and SJRRC Board Member and Mayor Christina Fugazi who will offer remarks highlighting the importance of local workforce development and regional investment in sustainable transportation.
TRACC was founded in 2021 and was created in response to the increasing demand for a skilled, homegrown rail workforce to support the evolving demands of the rail industry in Central California. Administered by the SJRRC and Sacramento City College, TRACC provides hands-on training, classroom instruction, and direct career pathways into rail industry careers through partnerships with employers, labor organizations, and local education providers.
"We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of this dedicated group of graduates, who represent the next generation of California’s rail professionals,” said Tamika Smith, Director of Rail Services of the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission.” TRACC is a powerful example of how regional collaboration and forward-thinking workforce strategies can create real, lasting opportunities for our community.”
